Young Dolph & Key Glock Rock The House of Blues
Paper Route Empire continues to show why they are front runners coming out of the South with an incredible Houston performance at the House of Blues.
With flashing lights strobing and smoke cannons blasting Key Glock emerged performing “Dough” from his 3rd album Yellow Tape. From that moment the crowd ascended from slightly anxious and impatient to a complete riot with the audience going bar for bar with the performer. He then rolled into another Yellow Tape favorite “Word on the Street” with the audience simultaneously rapping right back at him. The audience were at a ’10’ throughout his entire performance. Especially when performing his hit songs like “Hot” and “Russian Cream”.
Just when I thought the energy could not get any higher the beat switches and out walks Young Dolph to perform songs from the joint album “Dum and Dummer”. At this point the venue is shaking as they perform songs like “Water on Water on Water” and “1 Hell of a Life”.
Then it was the Paper Route Empire Chief’s turn. Performing nothing but the hits, he took over commanding the crowd like a boss should. At some point in the show Dolph asked “Ya’ll wanna hear some new shit or some old shit?” The crowd responded “Old shit!” as he chuckled they dropped a fan favorite, “100 Shots”. With dancers performing death defying tricks on poles mounted on the stage he continued on as the crowd looked on singing every song word for word.
As the concert came to a close, I walked back to my car with a smile on my face knowing I had seen an amazing show. Not just because of the music but because it was a complete representation of the South. Great music with great performances just as the greats that came before them.
