Houston, Texas: Hip-Hop duo comprising of AR tha stAR and J-Rich are a force to be reckoned with. Calling our great city of Houston home, the group’s refreshing take on storytelling, creative flows, and oddball humor help make Mastapiece yet another luminous gem in the city’s music space. The duo publicly expresses the desire to display authenticity in their craft as well as impact peoples’ lives. Amidst the subtle, playful innuendo and cat jokes, Mastapiece’s “The 30 yeAR Old Virgin” music video has a lot to take in. The song, carries a little adage about the age-old virginity concept, one which is still hotly debated in society at large. The duo most recently followed up with their ep titled, “Nouveau”.

“Nouveau” is a 6 track ep that showcases the ‘rawness’ that this group brings to the table. Producer ZAH Master’s tight, space age productions coated by AR tha stAR’s brash, vibrant vocals make it a great listen from beginning to end. The subjects of the ep seem to center around coming of age, with one track “Friend Zone” creatively painting a non-literal but palpable friend-zone hell where lost souls of men are trapped. Jokes aside, the group produced the album artwork for the ep. The cover depicts a mosaic with six different scenes, each correlating to the ideas behind each track.
