Puma Blue Support Tour Hits Houston
White Oak Music Hall: London based singer/songwriter, Puma Blue, stopped by Houston in support of his album, “On His Own”. Known for making what is being dubbed “voicemail ballads”, it won’t take very long to understand his aesthetic. With the release of his latest title, Puma Blue creatively plays with the nuances of music in the live setting. Each recording on the album, ripped right from his live performance at Eddie’s Attic, takes you into a quiet, mellow soundscape. Sincere and passionate, his vocals create such an atmosphere that make you feel as if you are listening in on a phone conversation between lovers in the wee hours of the night.
Gracing Houston for the first time, Puma Blue (Jacob Allen), made sure to announce that it was in fact his first visit. His monologues in between sets were short lived golden moments that quickly became dialogues as excited fans would interject. The crowd’s “cheeky” comments made for a few good laughs between Allen and the crowd. Highlights of the set were “(She’s) Just A Phase” and fan favorite “Soft Porn”. Instrumental breaks by the live band transcended the crowd as the saxophone solos and drum breaks left the crowd at a roar. Reactions at Puma Blue’s Houston show were largely positive, at one point leaving one fan in tears. If you missed this show stay tuned for the next tour. Until then, enjoy “On His Own”.
