Cavetown on 10/26/19

Rising solo-artist, Cavetown, stopped by in Houston on his headline tour last Saturday. The show was only a few ticket sales away from being sold out, and the room was completely filled all the way to the back wall. The room was full with buzzing fans up until the moment the lights dimmed, which was then followed by an eruption of screams. The crowd’s energy was euphoric, and everyone sang the lyrics back to him at the top of their lungs. He played some of his hit singles, such as “Lemon Boy”, “Boys Will Be Bugs”, and “This is Home”, but also played some of his older classics such as “Devil Town”.

Robin Skinner (Cavetown)

Robbie Skinner, also known as Cavetown, is a 20 year old from Oxford, England. He later moved to Cambridge when he was eight years old. Both his parents are music teachers, and are his biggest musical influence. Robbie writes, records, and produces all his music in his bedroom. The majority of his songs are based around acoustic guitar and ukulele, and are considered alternative or indie. Twenty One Pilots, Joji, and Peach Pit, all inspire his compositions and overall sound.

Cavetown performing song “Green”

Cavetown opened with the song “Hug All Ur Friends”, which is a single from his compilation, “Animal Kingdom”. Throughout the show, he played both uplifting and sorrowful songs; one of those sorrowful songs being “Green”, which is a fan favorite. The moment he struck the first chord of the song, the crowd was instantly swept into the emotion. Mesmerizing, green lights shined on the stage while sparkling, emerald stars appeared behind him. He even played a few unreleased songs, and said that one of them will be released on November 1st, 2019. He enjoyed hearing input and opinions for his new songs from the crowd.
