TMZ reports that early Wednesday morning, rapper, Kevin Gates was released from Illinois State Prison. Kevin Jerome Gilyard, better known by his stage name Kevin Gates, is an American rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. With hit songs “2phones”, “Really Really”, and “Time for that”, he really pushed his was to the top of everyone’s playlist.

The rapper was put away for 2+ years on a felony weapons charge but released just after 9 months. Now I know this might sound like a replay of last year, where he was released and then rearrested the same day due to the weapons charges, but this time looks like its sticking.

According to Uproxx entertainment, Gates stated that he had been listening to Atlanta rapper ‘Lil Baby’ who stated himself, “that sh*t really meant a lot because I really got through my prison bid listening to that n****”, on his Instagram page. As rappers theses guys are truly talented. Making their marks on the music scene seems to be no brainers for them. As a fan we hope we will hear something new from them, maybe even a massive collab.
